This week I had an appointment to begin the process for a dental crown. I was actually looking forward to it because I knew the nitrous oxide would relax me. And the atmosphere at the dental office is always outstanding with the soothing colors, the little extra thought and touches. Praise and worship music plays softly without commercial interruptions.
I was already in a heightened awareness of GOD when I arrived. Even the smallest details stood out – the cleanliness of the bathroom, well stocked toiletries, tissue, even a garbage can you don’t have to touch. When you enter the front door the spirit of excellence is tangible. Everyone there is courteous and thoughtful. I left my water bottle in the car. I was given one. Everything is clean, modern and up to date.
So, I leaned back comfortably in the chair. Staff were in and out of the room. The dentist asked me if I was ready to get started. I said “I’m actually looking forward to it, hoping to get a nap!” Every element of the experience was so soothing and calming. I could feel my entire being… being… refreshed from head to toe. The dentist was quietly singing along. I’m thinking here is someone that enjoys his work and it shows. Which I believe is the plan of GOD for all of us. We should be operating out of the giftings HE imparted into us.
There are a few minutes in between the process where I’m in the room alone. I needed to stretch my arms so I reached up. The song playing was one I really liked and I literally began to worship GOD! Have you ever had a Worship Encounter at the dental office? This was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise for me. The dentist walks in and asks “are you all right?” I said “I am wonderful. I’m just lying here worshiping GOD!” I told him “I promise you it is not the nitrous talking.”
We should all be operating out of that overflow and excellence of GOD. When we encounter an atmosphere like that, be thankful and tell them what a blessing they are! I didn’t want to leave! Life is so much more rewarding and fun when everyone splashes Living Water all over this dry and thirsty land.
But I, the LORD, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve. Jeremiah 17:10
