Moving back to Mississippi from New York was something, that at the time, chose us not the other way around. After all, we had built our entire professional and faith based life in another part of the world. Yet, returning here ended up being the best decision we ever made. We came to Mississippi at first to take care of my parents following an emergency medical event that descended into a downward spiral of my Dad’s health. Soon it became evident that we could not commute to both places but needed to live here full time. Having the opportunity to be near my parents on a daily basis in the last period of their lives was a tremendous blessing. After my parents passed, we ended up staying because we loved the community, and the heart of the people which we grew to adore. A large part of that was an unbridled, unapologetic love for God.
As part of our transitional process here and because of our experiences in artistic ministry as well as serving on worship teams, we decided to start visiting different congregations of multiple denominations and sometimes no denomination. We were so inspired by all we learned about their strengths and differences. The most important lesson of all was that no matter how four walls can seemingly separate us, the Love of God prevails. And after all, we are all more alike than we are different. Some of us may not know it just yet. We called this adventure Chasing Jesus – Our Mississippi Christian Crawl .
